Expectations & Policies

Mrs. Region’s Classroom

It is with great pleasure that I welcome your child into my class as a 6th grade scholar. We can look forward to a very exciting and rewarding school year. In order to provide our scholars with the best educational climate they deserve, the following classroom discipline plan will be in effect, and all expectations for your child are in alignment with both the Carlsbad Sixth Grade Academy Student Handbook, as well as the Carlsbad Municipal Schools Student Handbook. This will support daily communication between you and I, through the use of your scholar's school agenda, email, phone call, or appointment.

Expectations for the Classroom

1. Be Prepared
2. Be Respectful
3. Be Responsible

Missing/Incomplete Class Work or Homework

ALL missed or missing assignments (reading or language arts) must be turned in by the following Tuesday of your absence, or student will be asked to stay in for lunch, or before or after school until they are caught up.
It is the scholars responsibility to retrieve and turn in assignments. Assignments are on display on the agenda board, or our class website. Handouts can be found in the Absent Box at the front of the classroom. IF help is needed, again it is their responsibility to ask and make arrangements for assistance.

  •  Additionally, your composition notebooks, textbooks, and binders should remain in the classroom everyday.  Without your notebook, you will not be prepared.  From time to time, I will review your notebook and/or composition book for a grade.  You will need to keep ALL of your notes in your class binder.
  • Technology will be used frequently in this class.  You will be encouraged to use your own cell phone, tablet, or laptop, but only at appropriate times. Any time a device is being unnecessarily used (i.e. texting, youtubing, facebooking, etc.) or is the cause of distraction, it will be taken away from you for the remainder of the class period.
  • You should submit all assignments on time.  All late assignments will be penalized.  If you are absent, it is your responsibility to get your make-up work.  You will still be held accountable for notes and assignments that you missed.  All make-up work is due by the following Tuesday of the absence.  After five days from returning to class, you will not be allowed to make up an assignment (including tests & quizzes) unless other arrangements have been made in advance.
  • Hall Passes, scholars have 4 minutes between classes this time is not to be wasted. Students should use the restroom before class.  Only in the case of an emergency will students be allowed to leave the room. Students will be given 4 hall passes per 9 weeks
  • Tutoring is available in my classroom several days before school and some days after school by appointment.  I will announce what days after school tutoring is available on the board and in classroom.
